Course Descriptions Fall 2026

Language Arts - This 55 minute class is for children ages 5-7. (Full Year) Young readers explore stories through lively read‑alouds, targeted vocabulary work, comprehension practice, and writing projects that build strong early literacy skills. We will practice retelling stories through games, songs, and acting them out. 


Life Science -  This 55 minute class is for children ages 5-7. (Full Year) Young scientists explore plants, animals, habitats, and ecosystems through hands-on experiments, read‑alouds, and nature observation. Students build real understanding of how living things grow, survive, and interact in the world around them. 


Art with Friends Jr -  This 55 minute class is for children ages 5-7. (Full Year) While learning techniques, skills, vocabulary, and composition students will develop confidence in their ability to draw. Includes learning to blend colors, add shadows, texture, depth, and providing opportunity for students to add their own unique elements to the art. This course will use high quality art supplies and each student will be issued a set of supplies to take home at the end of the course.(There will be an additional supply fee of 25.00.)

Passport Pals (7 Continents) - This 55 minute class is for children ages 5-8. (Full Year) Join us as we learn about all 7 Continents! We will start with a general understanding of the continents.Then the real fun begins as we “spend time” on each continent hearing their stories, “meeting people”, learning the geography, food, culture, animals, etc.  


Lego Creative Jr -  This 55 minute class is for children ages 5-8. (Full Year) A hands-on building class where students use LEGO bricks to design, create, and problem-solve. Each session encourages imagination, teamwork, and creative thinking through themed challenges and open‑ended builds. Students explore engineering, storytelling, and design through guided LEGO challenges.

IEW Writing 2- Structure and Style B Grades 6+ (students who read at a 6+ grade level and are fairly confident in their writing. This is a 55 minute class twice a week). (Full Year)  Structure and Style Students will meet as a class weekly, and have daily extension work to do at home.Your students will work through IEW Units 1–7 as they learn to take notes, retell narrative stories, summarize references, write from pictures, and compose essays and other writing. Structure and Style for Students plus Fix It! Grammar brings a successful solution to your writing and grammar lessons.

Continent Detectives -  We will start with a general understanding of the continents.Then the real fun begins as we “spend time” on each continent hearing their stories, “meeting people”, learning the geography, food, culture, animals, etc. We will learn about the 7 Wonders of the World, and some Famous inventors and important historical figures.

IEW Writing 1- Grades 3-6 (Or older beginner writers).This is a TWICE A WEEK 55 minute class. It will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. Your students will work through IEW Units 1–7 as they learn to take notes, retell narrative stories, summarize references, write from pictures, and compose their own writing. Students will need a Student Book that includes assignments, blank outlines, source texts, checklists, vocabulary cards, and grammar help.

Greek Mythology -  This 55 minute class is for students ages 8+ (September-December)This semester course introduces students to classic Greek myths, key characters, and major themes. Through guided readings, discussions, and creative responses, learners strengthen comprehension, vocabulary, and narrative understanding while connecting myths to history and culture. 

 

STEM: (Engineering and More) - This 55 minute class is for children ages 8+ (Full Year) This project based class will teach using the engineering design process. Not each project will last only one class period as the students progress will depend on their open-ended problem solving skills. This design process also encourages students to learn from failure, making improvements along the way to find new paths to great design solutions. We will do the traditional egg drop project as well as design straw bridges, a catapult or trebuchet, make polymers and more!
